The author, Alexander Nickolayevitch Kulinsky, is an Honored Activist of Culture of the RF, Chief Curator of the Military Historical Museum of Artillery, Sapper, and Comm Troops (St.Petersburg), professor of the Southern-Ural State University, a leading expert in edged weapons and small arms of the 18th-19th centuries. This book represents an introduction of the basic sorts of edged weaponry and their features; the described pieces were actually used in Europe since the mid-17th through the late 20th century. The primary source of the material was the collection of the edged weaponry kept at the MHMASCT; the publication can also be used as a reference book for attribution purposes.
